The middle room of the baths was the "warm room". The hot steam room is off to the right. The walls are made of hollow bricks which allow steam and heat to pass through. The top part of the walls are grooved to channel condensation. These are the only ceilings to have survived the weight of the ash falling down onto them - they're arched, again to channel condensation, which also happens to make them very strong. The font, which flowed with cold water, was a gift to the townsfolk from a politician. It's inscribed with his name and how much it cost!

All images on this website have been shot using either a Canon S40 compact digital camera, or a Canon 20D DLSR. I'm something of a Canon fan. :) Most images have been post processed with Adobe Photoshop and the CurveMeister plugin. I thoroughly recommend CurveMeister, BTW. It's a great piece of software.
