This is the entrance to a "Lava Tube". Image a valley with a river of lava flowing down it. The lava at the surface of the river cools and hardens in the air and rain, leaving the really hot stuff still flowing underneath. The erruption then stops and the molten lava drains away leaving a hollow tube - a tunnel.

All images on this website have been shot using either a Canon S40 compact digital camera, or a Canon 20D DLSR. I'm something of a Canon fan. :) Most images have been post processed with Adobe Photoshop and the CurveMeister plugin. I thoroughly recommend CurveMeister, BTW. It's a great piece of software.
