Oak Sudden Limb Failure is a natural feature of several types of tree, of which Oaks are the most obvious. In times of stress, mostly caused by dryness, the tree will suddenly, and without warning, allow an entire limb to break off. It's not a well understood phenomena, and although rare, it's far from unheard of. And when it happens you don't want to be under the tree.
