"Yeah" came the awed reply. Bit of a pause. "Er, where what happened?" Another pause. "Um, I've no idea."

Which kind of sums up Faneuil Hall. People think it's kind of important, but only a bit important, and the shops around it are more interesting. Other than some kind of meeting/govermental place around the time of independence, I don't know what it is/was either.
