The drinking fountain in the square. Water flowed from the mouth of the carving. Look carefully at the wall to the left of the photo - see how it's worn? Most people are right handed, so they approach from that side, put their right hand on that part of the wall and lean over. The other side, favoured by left handers, is less worn.
