This is the Lava Tree Forest. Some years ago a river of lava from an eruption swept along here. Some of the the lava stuck to the trunks of the trees that were unfortunately in the way, and when it had all flowed off down the mountainside the burning trees where left behind, with cooling lava stuck to them. The wood burnt away inside leaving these weird hollow, columns of black rock.

All images on this website have been shot using either a Canon S40 compact digital camera, or a Canon 20D DLSR. I'm something of a Canon fan. :) Most images have been post processed with Adobe Photoshop and the CurveMeister plugin. I thoroughly recommend CurveMeister, BTW. It's a great piece of software.
