Occcasionally flash floods come surging down here. It's very dangerous - many people have been killed over the years. Even though it may be sunny around the canyon area, many miles upstream it might be raining, and the water arrives without warning. We checked with the rangers before setting out and were relieved to be given the all clear. If they'd said no, we wouldn't have gone.
